One of the best books I have read this year!The story of two women, Laila and Mariam who lives end up entwined as Afghanistan changes around them - from the fall of the Soviets to the Taliban. Poignant and deep. The characters cannot help but touch the depth of your soul as the suffering of the women is transcribed on words and paper. Khaled Hosseini tells a powerful story through the eyes of women, a story that is needed to be told to show the world the suffering within a land.
